CHAPTER 1 - THE DESPONDENCY OF ARJUNA

Verse 6

" There are the mighty Yudhamanyu, the very  powerful Uttamauja,

the son of Subhadra and sons of Draupadi. All these warriors are great chariot fighters"

Artha:
"The Strong Yudhamanyu, the valiant uttamaujas, the son of subhadra, and the sons of draupadi-all lords of
great chariots".

Analysis:
Yudyamanyu and Uttamaujas were both prominent localchieftains who had thrown in their lot with the
pandava forces. Saubhadra is son of subhadra, who exhibited superhumanheroism and ultimately dies fighting against terrible odds, and Draupedeyas are sons of draupadi .

Duryodhana while reviewing the strength of the enemies recognizes very noted men functioning as maharathis in
the Pandava forces. Although the Pandavas were less in number than the Kaurava forces ,their individual effectiveness was much greater and larger than the entire well-equipped Kaurava army.

The Mahabharata war was a event in history which has been intrepretated and written down to be a guide to
all aspirants. Each incident and each character has a special purpose of being a part of it.

King Duryodhana(King of desires) is the eldest son of the blind king Dhrishtrastra (blind sense mind). Material desires is extremely powerful and is the king and leader of all worldly enjoyments and is the cause to lure man to follow the path of sense pleasure rather than the path of soul happiness.

Drona representing samskara (impressions made by past actions and thoughts by the sub-conscious mind)

The Pandavas are heros controlling the armies of consciousness and energy and each of the maharathis
represent some significant characteristics.

Yudhamanyu mentioned in the above verse represents Life Force Control (Pranayama) which is the link
between matter and spirit. Flowing outward it reveals the alluring world of senses and taking inwards it
pulls the consciousness to the eternally satisfying bliss of God.

Abhimnayu represents Self-Mastery which is also called as Sanyama which every aspirant needs.

The sons of draupadi are the manifestations of the five opened or awakened spinal centers, upon which
every aspirant concentrates to draw divine discriminative power to fight the sense mind.

Basically When our sense faculties have been allowed to take command of the bodily kingdom ,mans power of
introspection and discrimination are forced into silent exile by the sense armies. Dictates of the
desires (Duryodhana) supported by habit (Drona) are all powerful.

But when the devotee or aspirant is ready to support the souls discriminative tendencies ,the Pandavas
consists of by positive prana (Yudhamanyu-Life Force Control) and sanyama (Abhimanyu-Self Mastery) and five spinal centers awakened by kundalini (Sons of Draupadi) come forward and destroys the pains caused by material desire.
